How to enable the hidden files and folders option?

Normally in Windows XP, we can view the hidden files and folders using the path- Tool>Folder Options>View and then check the "Show hidden files and folders" radio box. But sometimes due to some trojan/ spyware attacks, this radio box is unchecked automatically and we could not show the hidden files and folders. So follow the given steps to make visible the hidden files and folders:
  • Go to Start button and click Run and type "regedit" then press Enter.
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
  • Now on the right window of registry editor, double click on the DWORD value "Checked Value". A small box will appear with the title "Edit DWORD Value".
  • Modify the "Value data" as DWORD Value to 1 then click on OK.
  • Now you can easily view the hidden files and folders using the path- Tool>Folder Options>View and then check 'Show hidden files and folders" radio box.
